Educational Objectives:
Participants will be able to
  • describe the effects of trauma on psychic development.
  • discuss the concepts of social isolation and dissociation as they relate to traumatic experiences.
  • explain the importance of the mother’s adaptation to the infant’s needs from the perspective of Winnicott.
  • discuss the importance of the therapist allowing the unrepresented trauma to unfold in the treatment and to bear and contain the emotions involved.
