The Scientific Meetings 2013 - 2014

The Scientific Meeting provides exposure to new and on-going work in psychoanalysis. SFCP members or other prominent psychoanalysts present papers in progress on psychoanalytic theory, clinical work and applied psychoanalysis. All SFCP members, candidates, community members, and mental health professionals are welcome free of charge. The meetings take place on the second Monday of the month.

Course Objectives:

  1. Describe critiques of the classical concept of the unconscious and unconscious mental processes.
  2. Explain several reconceptualizations of unconscious mental contents and contrast these with the Freudian concept of the dynamic unconscious.
  3. Discuss the interpersonal and relational aspect of defenses and unconscious processes as described in contemporary psychoanalytic formulations.
