2016 - 2017 Visiting Professor Week | Scientific Meetings

The Scientific Meeting provides exposure to new and on-going work in psychoanalysis. SFCP members or other prominent psychoanalysts present papers in progress on psychoanalytic theory, clinical work and applied psychoanalysis. All SFCP members, candidates, community members, and mental health professionals are welcome free of charge. The meetings take place on the second Monday of the month.

Course Objectives:
Participants will be able to
  1. discuss the conflict between recognition and denial of death and of limits in psychotic patients.
  2. describe how the absence of thinking containment can lead to madness or suicidal acting out.
  3. summarize how the process of working through the perception of death and of limits can lead a patient out of psychosis.

PSYCHOLOGISTS: Psychologists attending SFCP events approved for CME credits may report AMA PRA Category 1Credit(s)™ toward their CE requirements. Psychologists self-certify the number of hours they have completed on their renewal form (whether online or paper). The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

REGISTERED NURSES: The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 02677, on an hour for hour basis.
