Amy Torchia, PsyD is a third-year student in SFCP's SF Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program (SF PPTP). She will graduate from SF PPTP and become licensed as a psychologist this spring. She has a practice in the Laurel Heights district of San Francisco, where she is a psychological assistant to Beth Steinberg, PhD. She treats adults, young adults and adolescents. Formerly a public high school teacher, she has a special clinical interest in adolescents and hopes to be able to work with more teens in her practice in the coming years. She wrote her doctoral dissertation on teen development in the age of the mobile phone and presented on this topic as part of a panel at the APA's Division 39 Spring Meeting in Boston last April.

Course Objectives:

  1. Participants will assess and compare their understanding of the clinical process from different clinical and theoretical perspectives.
  2. Participants will gain skill in identifying the transference/counter-transference process.
  3. Participants will be able to formulate better technical interventions.
