In the Stanford - Palo Alto community there is a renaissance of interest in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This talk will outline challenges and innovations in teaching psychoanalytic thinking and therapy to contemporary students.  Dr. Brast will make some radical proposals about what we should teach, what not to teach, and how to do that.  The speaker hopes to stimulate a lively discussion.

 


Course Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to describe the importance of goals in teaching.
  2. Participants will be able to describe methods for helping students to appreciate unconscious mental functioning.
  3. Participants will be to describe “the flipped classroom” approach to teaching.
