David Rosenfeld, MD is a child, adolescent, and adult psychoanalyst. He is a Training and Supervising Analyst of the Buenos Aires Psychoanalytic Society. He is a Consultant Professor at Buenos Aires University, Faculty of Medicine in the Department of Mental Health and Psychiatry. He formerly served as President of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). Dr. Rosenfeld is known internationally for his work with psychotic and addicted patients. He received the Mary S. Sigourney prize for his contributions to psychoanalysis. He is the author of numerous books and articles among them: The Creation of the Self and Language: Primitive Sensory Relations and the Child with the Outside World (Karnac, 2012) The Soul, the Mind, and the Psychoanalyst (Karnac, 2006).

 


Course Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  1. understand how Dr. Rosenfeld would approach treating a seriously disturbed patient psychoanalytically.
  2. develop different clinical understanding and approaches to psychosomatic issues in treating a seriously disturbed patient.
  3. learn how to carry the frame of treatment in the mind of the psychoanalyst while using countertransference to understand primitive process.
