Outreach Liaison
The mission of the Outreach Liaison Committee is to promote the visibility of SFCP within the larger Bay Area community. The Committee’s charge is to facilitate a psychoanalytic presence within the community, as well as to provide an interface between SFCP and community programs. Our focus is the practical application of psychoanalytic principles in community settings.
In addition, the Committee works to create programs that acquaint other professionals with the very broad range of application of analytic ideas. To date, these programs, often jointly sponsored, are being developed and offered in academic and medical communities. The Center serves both the needs of its members, and of the larger Bay Area community of mental health providers and consumers, as well as members of the public interested in the various applications of psychoanalysis.
>> Outreach and Liaison Services provide: Psychoanalytic Grand Rounds lectures to community professionals and interested lay people, seminars on Poetry and Psychoanalysis, The Eating Disorders Resource Center as well as Conversations with the Author, Seminars for Scholars and a Public Lecture Series. In addition, the Center establishes liaison and collaboration with other groups and organizations, including provision of supervisors and teachers to community mental health centers and to psychiatry and psychology training programs, and is able to offer consultation to a range of institutions through its Outreach committee.
To ensure a timely response to the requests, as a program begins to evolve, an analyst/liaison is designated to provide coordination between the outside program and SFCP. Our liaisons work to facilitate a personal relationship with each program. Within the Outreach/Liaison Committee, services are provided pro bono.
