We invite you to celebrate our 75th anniversary (1942 - 2017) of SFPI&S and SFCP.  This year marks the start of our celebration of the achievements of a small group of psychoanalysts three quarters of a century ago who started a psychoanalytic study group that became a foundation for clinical training and treatment in San Francisco. We have many things to celebrate: we are at home in our new building, we have a broad range of well-attended programs that indicate a growing interest in psychoanalysis in the Bay Area, and we have made strides towards financial stability, together with providing a focus for the future, and charting a bold new direction.

We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker will be Dr. Michael Krasny, host of the award-wining KQED Program Forum, a news and public affairs program that concentrates on the arts, health, business, and technology, and is one of the nation's most popular public radio talk shows.  During the past three decades, Dr. Krasny has interviewed many of the world's leading newsmakers and cultural icons, and his work has been recognized with numerous awards for broadcast journalism.

During this year we will be looking back at our history.  We will be featuring a series of interviews in our SFCP Newsletters with members who were active in the Center (or Institute) at different times over the course of the last 75 years, in order to present a picture of its history and development.

Dear Friends of the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis.

In a typical year, approximately 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. will experience some form of mental illness or disorder.

The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP) is a not-for-profit organization that provides resources for the general public, and for mental health professionals who wish to further their education and assist those living with mental illnesses or disorders.

Our psychoanalysts teach, train, and provide direct services in nearly every graduate program, hospital, and clinic in Northern California. With 500 practicing analysts, candidates, and community members, our volunteer-based center has expanded beyond psychoanalytic training to provide extended education programs for mental health professionals, arts and academic programs for the general public, access to one of the largest collection of psychoanalytic publications, and services such as our Child Development Program that offers preschool programs in lower-income communities in San Francisco.

Our Fall Gala, to be held on October 7, 2017, will be a celebration of 75 years of historic accomplishment, together with providing a focus for the future, and charting a bold new direction.
We invite you to become an event sponsor, and support our efforts throughout 2017, and beyond. Your sponsorship will be instrumental in supporting a wide range of educational programs for the mental health community, families, and their children.

Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to seeing you on October 7!

Sincerely yours,

Michael B. Donner, PhD
