Your Vote Matters!
Dear APsaA Members,
We are writing to announce the initiation of a new APsaA Connects online community called the "IPA Community". Instructions for joining it can be found at the end of this email.
We are also writing to urge you to vote in the upcoming IPA election for North American Representatives to the IPA Board of Directors.
There are matters under review by the IPA Board that have important implications for APsaA. The issues include IPA dues policies for APsaA members, the revision of the IPA Eitingon training model, and APsaA's autonomy as a Regional Association of the IPA, which allows APsaA to set our own training standards and bring in new groups.
The new IPA Community will offer an online space for discussion of these important current issues and also future IPA initiatives of interest to APsaA members. Attached to this email are the names of all the North American Representative candidates, and a series of questions to keep in mind as you consider your vote. We will post the attachment on the IPA Community as well.
IPA voting can be done in March, April and May 2017. You may vote for 7 or fewer candidates according to your preferences. Look for an email from the IPA with instructions and candidate position statements. This is the default ballot distribution method unless you request a paper ballot or the IPA does not have your email address. Please allow up to two weeks for mail delivery of paper ballots. If you don't receive your ballot by mid-March, please contact Electoral Reform service: [email protected]
We strongly encourage you to vote since the evolution of current IPA policies will impact APsaA. Also, we value the opportunity APsaA members have to participate in the global presence of psychoanalysis. We want to be sure APsaA members are as informed as possible about their concurrent membership in the IPA.
