So many of us have felt helpless in the face of our current administration's treatment of those attempting to flee desperate conditions in their home country. As mental health professionals, we are in the position to use our clinical skills and credentials to make a significant difference to the legal cases of immigrants and asylum seekers. We are offering a one-day training in which we will teach the relevant immigration law as well as the practice of the clinical interview and written evaluation, to be submitted at the asylum hearing, for the purpose of documenting the psychological sequelae of trauma and persecution. Please consider attending if you are interested in informing yourself about the asylum process and the mental health practitioner’s role within it. Those of you who decide to conduct pro bono evaluations for asylum seekers will have received the necessary training to join our newly formed asylum network.

Please respond to Lisa Buchberg at [email protected] if you plan on attending.
